A Safe Space

Confidentiality Statement

Trust is the foundation of our work together. Here is how I protect your story and the rare instances where I might be required to share information.

Our Agreement

In our sessions, you are free to talk, cry, rage, or simply breathe. Everything we discuss is confidential. I do not share your details with your employer, your family, or your GP without your explicit written consent.

"I believe that for therapy to work, you need to know your words are safe. I treat your privacy with the same respect I would want for my own."

When I must break confidentiality

As a COSCA-registered counsellor, I adhere to a strict Code of Ethics. There are very few legal and ethical situations where I am required to share information with third parties:

1. Risk of Serious Harm

If I have reason to believe that you are at serious risk of harming yourself or someone else, I may need to contact emergency services or your GP. I will always try to discuss this with you first.

2. Safeguarding Children & Vulnerable Adults

If you disclose information that suggests a child or vulnerable adult is at risk of abuse or neglect, I have a professional duty to report this to the relevant authorities.

3. Legal Requirements

I am legally required to report certain crimes, including those related to terrorism, drug trafficking, or money laundering. I may also be required to release notes if a court of law issues a subpoena.

Professional Supervision

To ensure I am providing the best possible support, I meet regularly with a qualified supervisor. During these sessions, I may discuss our work, but your identity remains completely anonymous. My supervisor is also bound by the same strict confidentiality rules.

We will review this statement during our first session to ensure you are comfortable and have a chance to ask any questions.
